Maybe I was just crazy, but since the Coons were going to be in Utah also, I couldn't not go for a visit to Utah and be there for the baptism of my niece and nephew Hannah and Ben--- even though I was very pregnant!! It was definitely worth it. My 10 day trip visiting with both my sisters and their families, my brother and his wife, and my parents was so much fun! HOT, but fun . . . .
I tandem drove with my parents since Jon wouldn't be able to join us until later in the week (he flew out Thursday night and then drove home with me). This was one of the most eventful drives to Utah I have ever had- especially on my own! From truck tire blowouts just one car ahead, a HUGE, CRAZY storm, a flooded freeway, and hitting a poor dog on the highway- there were a lot of close calls. Heavenly Father was sure watching out for this pregnant mama!! I really, really, really didn't want to go into labor on the road. The storm really was the craziest- I got out to pump gas in Missoula and in the few minutes I was outside I was completely soaked to the skin. It was a bit scary as lightning struck around us and wind blew- even the freeway traffic came to almost a standstill in the torrent. We couldn't sit at the highway stop all night to wait for it to pass so we ventured out into the storm when it calmed down a little- and were amazed as we watched the crazy lighting all the way from Missoula to Butte. It was on this stretch that I hit a poor confused beautiful white dog on the highway (I'm not a dog lover, but I burst into tears- it was horrifying to know I ended a life!) It was also this stretch where we ran into a flooded freeway (luckily they were slowing and directing traffic through it- - can't imagine hitting that at full speed).
Boy was I glad to get to our hotel in Dillon that night!
Of course, seeing all the cousins together was the best!! Even just seeing all of us together at church- priceless.

Each day we all hung out playing games and enjoying fun outings together (we stayed with Brian and Tycie- so much fun!)
Monday the 12th outing: A very WARM hike up in North Fork Canyon- the mountains in Utah are always spectacular. I "hiked" as little as possible - but our nice little walk, including seeing some horses and a "fort" that was built in the woods, and enjoying our picnic was fun!

I love the PARADE OF MINIVANS . . . .
And the sleeping 3 1/2 year olds . . . this happened a lot this week! Two matching bookends- Tyler and Nathan!

FHE that night little lesson and games!
Tuesday Aug 13th outing: Thanksgiving Point and the Children's Gardens!

My Cynthia ROSE
Marcus was the most awesome helper for this preggo mom- Tyler ran down this HUGE hill-- no way was I going to make it down and back- so Marcus went and got him and carried him back up on his shoulders!

Wednesday August 14th- Ben and Hannah's 8th Birthday! The big event this day was their Baptism and Birthday party at the park. What a special event. I always love being at baptisms- as the Primary President, I get this privilege for the children of our ward and I love every one. To be at the baptism of my niece and nephew- was even more special. It was wonderful to be there with my family!

Later that evening we also had fun at the Provo Aquatic Center- awesome facility and great for a hot evening.
Thursday outing: BYU!! We even rented a wheelchair so I wouldn't have to walk around too much in the HOT 100 degree weather . . . It is especially fun for me to see my kids who want to go there someday- it's a great platform for me to stress how important it is to get good grades . . .

Jon arrived late this night! Phew- so great to be back with my other half. Everyone was SUPER helpful while I was on my own, but it still isn't the same!
Friday was our trip to Salt Lake City- Temple Square, the new shopping center across the way (for lunch), and the church History Museum.

Just our family (and Hannah) stayed to do the Church History Museum and it was so worth our time! We mostly wanted to see the 100 years of scouting in the church display- and not only did Marcus get to work on a history merit badge, but the kids had a blast in the children's section! I was very impressed:

Saturday morning was the big "MAN" hike up to the very top of Y Mountain. Marcus wanted to go too (I was glad- it is rare that he shows a lot of excitement for something that isn't related to technology)- so I convinced Pat to give him a chance (Pat thought it might be too hard- four miles one direction straight up!). He did great and had a lot of fun bonding with Pat, my Dad and Jon!

We also had fun celebrating Cynthia's birthday on August 18th, the day before we headed back home! My amazing girl:
