Happy Birthday to my amazing oldest son!! Before I talk about his birthday party- I have to write about how proud of him I am. He has grown up to be such a responsible young man- one that I can trust to do what is right and I am excited for him to be in Young Men's! The most amazing thing was seeing him be ordained to the priesthood by Jon, surrounded by his grandparents. What a wonderful event- and I am so proud that he has prepared himself for this step in his life.
Last Sunday he passed the sacrament for the first time- and here is what I posted on facebook:
"The best early mother's day gift was watching my 12 year old son reverently and solemnly pass the sacrament on Sunday for the first time. He also fasted on his own (without complaining even) and was up and ready in his nice suit early so he could go help gather fast offerings with the other young men. Like the day I saw him write his name for the very first time, it's these little moments that warm a mother's heart so much!"
When I think of all the things we have been through (as a family and with him individually) in his 12 years of life- it truly is amazing how far he has come and will continue to go. I feel so blessed to be his mom!
On to his fun birthday party!!
He loves the computer game Minecraft, so asked for this to be his birthday party theme . . .
The cake and themed food - - things from the game, and creeper sodas! Along with pizza- no one went hungry . . .
We played a scavengar or "Mining" hunt- collected colored square tiles which they could "craft" into different prizes- - it was super fun! They also made "creeper" t-shirts, played creeper KO (knock out) by throwing a ball at the empty creeper soday bottles. It was so fun to see these 11 and 12 year olds having a fun time together. The party went super late as we ended up migrating to the nieghbor's yard to play dodge ball and just hang out. What a fun evening!
