So I am going to gain a ton of weight this fall, I can tell! I have not been able to stay away from the candy, cookies and now a tub full or the yummiest carmel dip for apples. If anyone else wants to join me - - the recipe is this (and I will warn you- it is sooo addictive!):
Carmel dip for apples:
½ cup butter
1 ½ cups brown sugar
1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
pinch of salt
3/4 cup light corn syrup
1/4 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp cinnamon
combine butter, sugar, corn syrup and milk in a saucepan. Heat over medium heat, stirring to dissolve sugar. Stir in vanilla, cinnamon, and salt. Serve with apples.
Anyway- I have been weighing myself every week, to make sure I am not just packing on the pounds. So far, so good. I realized it is the foggy, drizzly and dreary weather that is putting me in the mood to bake or make yummy, sugary things. They have started playing Christmas music at Wal Mart - - and I was actually enjoying it the other day! I also had the chance to buy some Christmas greenery and a wreath for super cheap at a local warehouse (The Weaver Flower company in Moxee- they actually make the wreaths and Christmas trees for Costcos all over the world!). They were having a sale - - so I am actually excited to decorate for Christmas! I know, I know, I need to get past Thanksgiving first. Maybe it is because I will be seeing ALL of my side of the family for Thanksgiving in Utah and we are going to do some Christmas things since we won't be together for Christmas. I am super looking forward to seeing all of my brothers and sister and their families!
For a little update- it has been a really long week. Marcus had pink-eye and missed most of the week of school - - it was hard on all of us for him to not be at school that much. He was so bored and I felt totally trapped! Luckily I was still able to be involved in playgroup, helping in Cynthia's classroom and cub scouts- things I really for the most part enjoy. The absolute highlight of the week was last night- BOOK CLUB!!! I LOVE IT!! I stayed until almost 11:00pm with several women that I am really enjoying getting to know. We have such fun discussions and I feel so blessed to be their new friend! Today was also Super Saturday (we spend a long time at the church doing crafts and dry packing things for food storage). Since there was a nursery (yipee!!) I had a blast. I seriously THRIVE on those kinds nights and days off. I love my children, but I need some ME time too. It will help me survive this weekend- Jon will be gone at the hospital all day today, through the night and into mid-day tomorrow. It is Stake Conference weekend - - I will miss the adult session tonight (unless I can secure a babysitter), and I am absolutely DREADING the main session tomorrow at 1pm- which I will have to brave with all three of my kids by myself. Two hours- right during nap time - - is that more than I should ask of them? More than I should ask of myself?? But I dont' want to miss everything! Would I be neglecting my duty or my church activity to miss all of stake conference? This is also our first stake conference in this stake - - so I want to be there to get a feel for the stake and the stake presidency, which I do not know at all (I am not even sure who our stake president is). Well- we will see how it goes, I still am not sure what to do. Anyway, at least I was able to enjoy some breaks this weekend- and I will try to do some fun things with the kids while Jon is away.
In the mean time- happy fall!

i know the stake conference dilemma. i went by myself with 4 kids, josh was working, and yes it was a total disaster. not only did i not hear a thing, i disrupted everyone else. that's just how it goes!!!!
hope yours goes better!
thanks for the goodreads info. i check it out sometime. it takes me a while to do something new on the computer, but i do care about books. i'll let you know.
I am so glad that you love your book club! I love mine too...and we are meeting this coming Tuesday. I can't stay up as late as I use to because of the new baby, but I love chatting with my friends. We had our Super Saturday today too! It was good to have some "FREE time away from the kids too" To recharge myself. I had fun chatting and doing the crafts and learning how to make home made rolls! FUN!
I guess I am just a bad bad person, but I probably would not make it to Stake Confrence if I was in your situation. I acutally didn't make it earlier this year, when I was just pregnant, and only had Bug to look after, but with out Bryan being there, it just was way to much to ask of me and of Bug to be entertained for 2 hours.
that caramel dip does sound yummy... and addictive. I didn't have a chance at playgroup to try it. I just might have to make some :) Book club was really fun. I enjoyed everyone's stories!
Totally can relate on stake conference. Travis is working this weekend so that meant no Saturday and Sunday alone. We got there WAY to early because it was at a different building and I thought it would take longer, but got soft seats which was nice. Kathryn did good for the 1st hour we were there, but by the intermediate hymn we headed for the primary room where they had it on TV for loud kids. Spencer sat in the front row and colored very well. Kathryn was a maniac all over the place. Twirling, eating, trying to hug babies-- it was insane. I was glad we went in there and definitely glad when it was time to go home! Whew. Some days are just wild! Hope yours went ok!
