House Hunting

Stressfull!!! Well- Jon and I have decided to try to buy a house in Yakima. We feel ready to take this step . . . I am really excited, but also really scared - it is such a huge decision. We spend all day yesterday in Yakima- looking at many houses. It is going to be difficult, I think, to get the size of house we need (our family isn't really small any more!) for the price we can pay- but there were a few that seemed good. So we will see. I am also really freaked out about having a mortgage- and all that goes on with buying a house for the first time. Does anyone have any advice????

Just think of it this way, renting is basically like flushing money down the toilet. No more flushing money!!
Plus you can do whatever you want to it,paint, addition, anything!
Good luck I understand the stress,we are thinking of doing the same thing after graduation!

I know what you mean. I was scared to death when we bought our first home when we still lived in California. But just as the comment above- No more flushing money down the toilet.
The only advice I have is make sure that your morgage encludes property taxes in the monthly payments. This is what got us when we bought our first home. It was no fun getting that bill in the mail when we were not planning for it.
Other than that, enjoy the freedom of painting, and working on your own home. Since you have been working as Apartment Managers in the past you have some experience fixing things that break and this really is a plus.

I was scared to death as well. My advise to you would be to pray each time you go house hunting and let the Lord guide you to the right one. Everything will end up working out in the end, I promise. I can't believe that Vince and I have had our house for a yr now!
